We called on Friday and asked repairing a non working ac in one of our cars. The gentleman was told that it was the blower motor. Still, we made an appointment to take it the next day for repairs. I don't dispute any diagnostic charges as all mechanics and shops charge. What bothered me was the attitude when I was trying to explain to him why we came to the shop as opposed to going to the dealership for the repair. For us, time qas the issue as we have 2 under 2 and that car is used almost everyday. I was willing to pay out of pocket to get it fixed if it could be done over the weekend as opposed to leaving it for several days at the dealership. I tried to explain that but but he failed to understand what I was trying to say. I still payed him for the diagnostic but left unsatisfied because as mentioned, we told him that it was the blower motor. He didn't inform us that he couldn't repair it and would have e to replace it and that would involve going to his shop. This first visit was on his driveway. If you don't have the tools or parts the perhaps tell your customers ahead of time and we could arrange a time that works for everyone to avoid multiple visits to multiple locations. Overall, not professional. Again, I transferred the money and never once refused to pay. Money is still not the issue. Its customer service and the lack of listening and communication. Understand that not everyone will have the same experiences with this business but personally, based on mine today, I cant recommend him. Im not saying he isn't good at what he does or isn't priced fairly but none of that matters if you don't listen and communicate to customers. This was my experience.
This was also the text message he sent me after I put in my review for service we had today. Again, anyone with good customer service would tell you that this isn't the way you respond to criticism.
Im not a mechanic nor do I pretend to be. If your told that this is the issue, then why accept the visit knowing you cant fix it? If its a replacement issue that's one thing but explain before hand that the weekend would be difficult to impossible to get the parts needed and maybe make an appointment during regular business hours when you can get the items needed. The cost was never the issue. Listening and communication is the failure.
"Surendra, could you clarify why you brought the car in knowing that the blower failed? Especially on Saturday afternoon, when parts suppliers and dealers are closed. It did not occure to you that I wouldn’t be able to replace the blower motor even if I wanted to. It seems that you came in hoping for a solution, but after running an electrical diagnostic test and spending an hour on your vehicle, it became clear that the only way to fix the issue is by replacing the necessary part. After realizing that no other solution was available, you seem to think that mechanics work for free and the cost of diagnostics does not have to be covered. While I'm not going to hold my breath, you are welcome to bring your car in for repairs to our shop next week during a business hours since we've already completed the diagnostics. Please let me know in advance so I can gather the information on all costs before the installation. In any case, have a great day."
This isn't a good way to go about responding to a paying customer. Hopefully this experience makes things better for others in the future.
