Why would you take appointments for oil changes, if you don't want to do them?

I had 2 vehicles in need of oil changes. Arranged appointments with James to have both of them done. When James called to tell me my first vehicle was done, he mentioned a t-case fluid change and a cabin air filter to be changed, and I told him I was not interested in either of those services at this time. His reaction to my denial of these procedures was where things went terribly out of hand. James told me "We are a small busy shop that can't be used as a quick lube". When I then showed up to the business to pick up my vehicle, I canceled my other appointment and let him know if he didn't want to do oil changes, he should advertise that. I informed James that the other vehicle I was going to have the oil changed was needing about $5000 worth of suspension work done (expensive Toyota shocks) and told him I would be using a different shop. It was this point in the conversation that James said that "Maybe we should just stop talking?" I paid for my 1 oil change, and left.

To be fair, for everything I've heard, the Mountain Auto does good work. I will not be taking my business to them anymore because of poor relationship building on James part. Auto shops in general get a bad rap for not being trustworthy. I'd like to build a relationship with the Owners/service writers/Mechanics to gain that trustworthiness. The "I don't have time for the small jobs attitude" doesn't work for me. This is why I won't be returning or recommending any business to go there.

Brought in an 08 Subaru which we gave to grandkids for transportation to college. Jason fixed it up, warrantied the parts and made it a safe vehicle. He is a super guy to work with. Thank you Jason.

Our experience the second time around was pretty disappointing. When we decided not to fix the switch and regulator on the front two windows for $1800, they told us the diagnostic test was $450. With mechanics in the family, these cost prices were shocking as we know how easy these problems are to fix.

I understand there are costs including labor to cover, but it should definitely not cost almost $2000 to fix a quick problem on a car let alone $450 to do a diagnostic. Just be careful and ask questions before dropping the car off.

Giving a 2 stars instead of 1 because they have fixed our car before but even then it was an extremely pretty penny to fix. They are nice people but the costs are just not realistic.

I was recommended to use this shop for my muffler and exhaust needing replaced by another shop. The replacement was reasonably priced and they had good communication.
