Tried to get my girlfriend’s grandma for her money, Her 2014 ford escape was brought for her regular maintenance as the shop she usually goes to wasn’t available at the time. they proceeded to tell her she had “black transmission fluid with metal shavings” they even had some “fluid” to show her (i’m assuming from another car they had in) and gave her a very large repair list quoting that she needed a whole plethora of parts and a whole new transmission (around $8k total) she was pretty upset about it and had to figure out her options so she went to Toyota for a second opinion, Toyota proceeded to do a full diagnosis on the lift and found nothing wrong with the car. the parts they quoted that she “needed” weren’t required at all, They even sent an endoscope into the transmission to see if there was anything going on internally and it looked completely fine with no shavings in the fluid or heavy wear whatsoever. She left Toyota with her maintenance completed, no repair cost and the car still works fine. Seems like they were just trying to get money from an old lady that doesn’t know any better, low class and extremely sad to see from such a “reputable shop”, I wouldn’t recommend these people to anyone.
