We went to Auto Medic before going to Toronto and had an amazing experience! They mechanic was very kind and helpful. Despite being 4 young women, he treated us with respect and was very fast with our service because he had a long drive ahead of us.<br><br>Thank you so much to the mechanics for all your hard work and kindness.

After having the first ever leak in the brake line behind the gas tank going to the rear right wheel, I went to this shop with the intention to replace the entire two brake lines all the way from the front of the car to the rear wheels. When I requested a quote for the complete job, I was faced with a pushback from both the owner and one of his mechanics who responded that replacing the entire lines would not work and would not be needed for the next year given the current corrosion level and suggested I should only fix the leaking portion and sell the car withing a year. Paid $180 for a half hour job to replace the leaking spot with a series of nuts connecting the two ends of the broken line and for bleeding the brake line. After going home, I checked underneath the car and found that the fix was for the brake line going to the rear right wheel whereas the bleeding was performed to the rear left wheel. This finding did not surprise me, as the mechanic was working in darkness underneath my car without using a flash light to see and blead the correct line he worked on. I had to go back to request bleeding the correct line which the mechanic did for me without argument, before the owner showed up to defend what they originally did arguing that the rear right wheel could be bled using the bleeder of the rear left wheel. None of that explanation made any sense to me especially after my subsequent followup research and after talking to another mechanic.<br>Exactly 5 days after the work was done, I noticed a new spot of brake oil leak in front of the gas tank where I was guaranteed not to have issues for the next year before I sell the car as recommended by the shop owner. I left a message to the owner with his son to call me back to give him a chance to correct his misjudgement and deduct the service fee of the shady job done from the proper complete job, but he never called back.<br>A week after the work was completed, I took my car to another mechanic whose first comment was that the previous leak fix is against safety laws in Ontario and Quebec where the connection was designed for the lower pressure fuel line and that for the higher pressure brake line a different connection material should have been used. The new shop took 3 hours to replace both brake lines all the way from the front of the car to the rear and bled all four brake lines and that cost me $360. The last mechanic also found safety issues with both my front tie rods and ball joints and recommended I replace them ASAP.<br>I lost $180 for work that lasted for only one week without even being told about the other safety issues I had with my car.<br>I have attached a picture of the shady connection work done at this shop followed by pictures showing removal of the entire lines including the connection installed at this shop and the new lines installed at the other shop.<br>I suggest avoiding this shop run by people with no sound business sense who prioritize their short term interest at the expense of the customer's long term value.<br>If you had no choice but to visit this shop, I would suggest getting a quote from other shops before the visit and for watching the mechanic during and after service to ensure no shortcuts.

I wanted to find a good garage nearby, and this place didn't disappoint. The mechanic took me right under the car to show me the issues with the exhaust, which I appreciate since my automotive knowledge is extremely limited!<br>They kindly went out of their way to offer me a ride home and back again once the car was done, and I found the prices very reasonable and affordable. If you're looking for reliable, honest work in the Gatineau/Hull area, I would recommend giving these guys your business.
