I dealt with Q1 Auto Service multiple times to repair my vehicle, but unfortunately it turned out to be one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with an auto shop.

Initially, they told me that the temperature sensor was faulty and needed replacement. I clearly requested an original OEM part, but instead they installed an aftermarket/generic part. Less than a month later, the part failed while I was driving, causing the engine to overheat severely. The distance to my home was only about 12 km, yet it took me more than 3 hours to get there because I had to stop repeatedly and wait for the car to cool down before continuing.

When I contacted them, I expected at least some kind of roadside assistance or towing support, but instead they simply told me: “Bring the car in and we’ll check it.”

The next day I brought the vehicle back. They said the part was under warranty and would be replaced. I clearly explained that I no longer trusted that aftermarket part, that I had originally requested an OEM part from the beginning, and that I now insisted on installing the original part to avoid going through the same nightmare again.

However, because the aftermarket part was free for them under warranty, they completely ignored my request and installed the exact same aftermarket part again.

About a month later, it failed again. This time I happened to be close to the shop, so I drove there immediately. Instead of taking responsibility for the repeated issue, they claimed that another part had failed. They replaced the supposedly faulty part, but they also replaced another part that was actually working perfectly fine, then handed me an extremely expensive invoice.

What shocked me even more was that they threw the “supposedly defective” part into the garbage right in front of me. I already had doubts about their honesty, so I secretly took the part and brought it to the dealership/manufacturer for inspection. They confirmed that the part was completely functional and had absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Even more strangely, after I left the shop, they later called me asking about that same part they had claimed was defective and asked me to return it to them. That made me even more suspicious and convinced me that what happened was neither honest nor professional.

The most frustrating part is that getting your rights back in situations like this is extremely difficult — endless follow-ups, delays, and in the end you realize you may need to file a legal case and hire a lawyer, meaning you could spend many times more than the original amount just to recover your rights.

I truly hope there will be stronger oversight and accountability for these kinds of practices to protect customers from deception and exploitation.
