Went online to find a reputable Buick repair facility. John's was recommended. My synopsis was that we were hearing a clunking sound in the rear of the car. Took the car in and was presented with every mileage based repair needed and was convinced, in a nicely designed video, that one of our front sway bars was the culprit for the noise and required repair. Of course, both would need repair. In attempts to reflect a confident business case support of my new garage, I also agreed to do some of the standard maintenance to the vehicle. I understand that any facility is going to present 100% of the manufacturer requirements. I would have given 1 star, by my reluctance to do my own homework on the cost of air filters and what would be a reasonable coolant exchange puts that second star on me. The bill was $1643.92.
The very next stay, same clunk comes back. I am encouraged to take it back to John's by friends and family, but decide to take it to the dealership. Within a short time, I am called, I am escorted into the shop and shown the extensive damage to our differential and the right rear axle. They can replicate what causes the clunk. The cost of these repairs and all four brakes that need urgent attention (they are measured in front of me as well) is well beyond a realistic number. So, we sold the vehicle. The $1643.92 was a gift to John's Auto Service.
Lesson again pounded into me. Trust your gut and do not make snap decisions based on evidence that just does not add up. I would not recommend and I will not return to John's Auto Service.
