Recently had a very disappointing experience at Speedy Auto Service in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia.
On April 16, 2026, I brought my 2017 Kia Soul in for an MVI inspection. After the inspection, I was given an estimate of over $1,570 and told these repairs were required for the vehicle to pass, including stabilizer bar links, rear parking brake cable, front bumper repair, front brakes, and tightening the steering shaft.
What bothered me most was that they charged me for “tightening steering shaft” without getting my approval first. When I asked about it, I was told they didn’t need prior approval to do that work. I found that explanation completely unreasonable and unprofessional.
The front bumper only had a small crack, but I was told it needed repair in order to pass inspection, which was very surprising to me.
To confirm everything, on May 1, 2026, I took the exact same vehicle — with no repairs done at all — to another highly rated shop for another MVI inspection, and it passed without any issues.
Same car, no repairs, but one shop said over $1,500 of work was required to pass inspection while another shop passed it immediately. That really made me question the fairness and honesty of the inspection and repair estimate I received here.
Overall, the experience left me feeling pressured, frustrated, and very disappointed. I expected a more transparent and trustworthy experience from a chain repair shop.

ATTENTION FELLOW CUSTOMERS:
This place is a complete rip off, because this Sackville location will charge you $68 to take 5 minutes to look at your vehicle and then spend the next hour and half creating PDF file with a list of ‘recommendations’ that the car needs. I needed a suspension bushing replaced did that happen? NO. They said they were too “uncomfortable” to drive the vehicle to find the noise and that I’d need the LIST of recommendations done to the vehicle before they can replace the suspension bushing…
Hour and Half + $68 later and I left with nothing done to my car.
Literally go anywhere else but here.
