I was looking for a good mechanic in the area for on going service of my new to me 2017 golf r. I found auto select through some searching and they were local at the time.

I had a stage 1 flash done from Integrated Engineering and that tune required colder plugs, specifically NGK racing competition R7437-9. Bought the plugs ahead of the appointment from WCT performance in Markham, Ed the owner ensured they were the correct plugs.

I drive now from WCT in Markham to Auto Select in Newmarket for the appointment to have a resonator delete done and these spark plugs installed. After waiting the mechanic came out and said the spark plugs were wrong. I showed the mechanic the spec chart direct from this very well known and reputable tuning company and still says it’s wrong and he’d stay later if I drove back to WCT to get the right ones. So down the 404 I went and Ed said he sold 100s of these a month and they are absolutely the right ones.

I bring back the same plugs and the mechanic takes them out of the box and puts it in my face and says “See these don’t fit in your ignition coil, they’re too long!” Then the snarky and equally misinformed secretary couldn’t help herself and says “Excuse me, we only work on VW and Porsche, I think we would know better!”

At this point I felt like I couldn’t leave fast enough and told them to forget about the plugs and let’s just do the resonator delete.

The mechanic then comes out again after some time and says a bracket was missing out of the box brand new and it would be $30. Weird, and seems like a lot for a bracket but I reluctantly paid the new customer tax fee so I could go somewhere else. Since I have since found a new VAG specialist around the corner from them that is more professional and knowledgeable as specialists.
