I recently purchased a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee from a local dealership. Upon closer inspection, the factory paint had some flaws that were not my fault. I took the vehicle back to the dealership I purchased it from, and they took pictures of the problem and submitted the pictures to get approval for Chrysler to pay for the damages. They approved the work to be done.

Since the dealership did not have an in house body shop, the work had to be farmed out. I was told that the work would be done by this particular body shop, and that he was the best guy in town according to the dealership. Fast forward more than a month later and the vehicle is finally dropped off for the repair work to be done. I received a call approximately one week later that the work had been completed and it was ready to be picked up. When I arrived at the dealership, I went and immediately looked at the area that was supposed to be fixed. The problem I had reported was still staring me in the face, I went in to the dealership to talk to them about it. They said that’s not right and I said, “I’m well aware.” And they took the vehicle back and called the repair shop to rectify the problem.

Fast forward 24 hrs and now magically the repairs are all done, seems quick to me, but what do I know about body work? Due to the fact that I picked the vehicle up in the middle of winter, and the roads are usually wet, snow and/or salt covered, it’s difficult to see the quality of work, all I know is that the imperfections in the paint were no longer visible.

Fast forward a couple of months to warmer weather and cleaner roads, I can finally get the vehicle cleaned up. I decide to have the vehicle ceramic coated to further protect the paint. The gentleman doing that work put the vehicle under proper lighting and discovers the rear passenger door is absolutely loaded with DA (sander) swirl marks and fine scratches all over the door, clearly the work of someone who either didn’t know what they were doing or was in a rush to get the work done and out. Needless to say as a discerning vehicle owner, I am less than happy with the overall quality of work and attention to detail. If it would be possible to give this shop less than one star, I would certainly do that.
