I had an estimate for a rear differential job from another company. $$$$ got recommended from a retired mechanic buddy he said take it to Dwight so long story short it wasn’t the diff at all it was front wheel bearing. The honesty of Dwight and his crew was outstanding and cheap highly recommend these guys Awesome job guys

Brought my 2018 truck in for diagnosis, transmission fluid was getting way too hot.

The employee took maybe five minutes to decide that the tranny needed to be rebuilt.
Left that day with a check engine light that wasn’t there before, figured it wasn’t anything to worry about since he did some fiddling.

I called around to get some other opinions, consensus was tranny likely needed to be rebuilt so I made the appointment and was told it would take three days

I called at the end of the third day (Wednesday), and they told me to call back on Friday around 1pm, so five days

They rebuilt tranny and told me there was plenty of damage to old one, but didn’t show me any of it, and said that it was caused by my front grill louvre system not operating properly and to get that fixed or it’ll happen again (would be $600+).

Well I got home, took the front grille off the truck, inspected the louvre system myself.

First of all, there was a big thick slab of tape stuck to it, so I already know they didn’t even look at the louvres or they would have seen that
Secondly, the louvres operate totally fine. When I took the grille off, they were already open. I could open and close them fine with my hands, so not seized or anything.
I closed them with my hands, turned the truck on, and the louvres opened up on their own, so I know it’s not a fuse issue or a control issue, the truck can and does open them up no problem.

So I know they didn’t inspect anything at all and didn’t troubleshoot anything whatsoever before telling me what the problem supposedly is.

It’s now the next day and I took it out for a drive to test it and the transmission fluid is getting really hot again, way too hot.

So now I’m going to see if it’s maybe the temp sensor, which I asked them if it could be, and they said no that’s usually the issue with the eight speed (mine is a six speed). Hopefully it’s just the sensor
Or maybe the fluid isn’t circulating properly

Either way, I can’t say I trust Dwight’s Transmission to help me any further and can’t recommend them for future patrons.

Awesome guys to work with if you got a bad transmission and want to get it rebuilt time lines might get pushed out a bit but work is good! Much cheaper than going to a dealer shop and putting in a new transmission!

Dwight and his staff are amazing! If you're looking for an honest, reliable, knowledgeable and experienced mechanic then this is the company for you. They supplied and installed a transmission into my 2013 Mini Cooper and everything is perfect. Thank you so much!!!
