Jateg is the best car mechanic you can find, he is fair and does his work with quality and conducts his business with ethics. He has a great system setup for his day to day operations and conducts himself in a very professional manner with all the customers. I would recommend anyone to check out his business, you will not be disappointed.

Extremely disappointing and questionable experience at Scantech Auto.

I brought my vehicle in after several warning lights appeared while doing a simple electrical install. I was told the issue required “software flashing” and was charged $250.

Shortly after, the exact same issue happened again. This time, instead of going back, I used a basic OBD scanner myself and cleared the codes in minutes. The vehicle returned to normal immediately, with zero repairs or programming required.

This raises serious concerns about what I was actually charged for. If the issue was simply temporary fault codes caused by a minor electrical change, then describing it as “software flashing” is, at best, misleading.

Customers rely on mechanics for honest diagnostics and transparency. Using technical language to justify a high bill for what appears to be a basic reset is not acceptable.

I would strongly caution others to verify issues independently or seek a second opinion before agreeing to expensive diagnostics here.

I will not be returning.

Got the chance to work with JD for some work, guy was upfront and honest. Pricing was also very reasonable.

Would recommend to anyone and everyone looking for work on their vehicle.

Huge shoutout to JD at ScanTech Auto in Edmonton.

I had a pretty unique project—wiring a Cessna 172 for a Garmin G1000 system—and JD absolutely delivered. This wasn’t a simple job at all, but he handled it like a pro from start to finish.

I’ll be honest—I had my doubts at the beginning. I wasn’t sure what experience an automotive tech would have with aircraft and avionics. But JD proved me wrong pretty quickly. He took the time to understand everything properly and executed it at a really high level.

He not only wired the G1000 system, but also helped with wiring the strobe and beacon lights. The quality of the wiring is top-notch—clean, organized, and clearly done with care.

He also went the extra mile with custom fitting and properly retrofitting the whole system. And what really stood out was that he created a full professional wiring diagram for future reference, which is incredibly valuable.

His work ethic, professionalism, and ability to take on something complex and deliver like this are honestly next level. If you’ve got a challenging project and want it done right, JD is the guy.

Highly recommend.
