“I have been taking vehicles to Krown for undercoating for over 12 years now. Last two years I have switched to the Stratford location. This year I took my brand new F250 in. When got back home I crawled underneath with a light to inspect, and coverage was very good. Could see oil up under the box sides above rear fenders and other hard to get at places etc. Parked on gravel when I got home as there was some dripping for day or so. But in my opinion that’s a good thing, as it means they put a good amount of product on. Undercoating will wick into those discrete place that need it most, protecting them from corrosion. Afterall that why we pay to have it undercoated. Very satisfied and will continue to take both of my vehicles to this location.

Side note, I have switched here from the Woodstock location. Woodstock had new ownership about 5 years ago and their workmanship is poor at best, with many dry spots visible by just looking under the fender when it came out of the shop. If they don’t get the easy spots, it begs the question, how much time is spent getting under box sides and do they take plugs out of doors frames etc. This went on repeatedly for numerous years even after bringing it to their attention. They just run them through quickly and hope the customer doesn’t check.
If in this area Stratford is much better location to have undercoating done!!!”

What Causes Vehicle Rust in Canada

Road salt (calcium chloride and sodium chloride) attacking bare metal
Moisture trapped in crevices, door panels, and wheel wells
Stone chips exposing bare metal underneath the paint
Drainage holes clogged with debris allowing standing water
Older vehicles with thinner factory undercoating wearing away
Winter driving requiring constant exposure to salt brine and sand

Signs Your Vehicle Needs Rust Protection

Bubbling paint on wheel arches, rocker panels, or door bottoms
Visible surface rust on the frame, subframe, or suspension components
Rust-through holes forming on body panels or the floor
Brown stains around panel seams and weld joints

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does rust proofing cost in Stratford? +
Annual oil spray rust proofing costs $120-$180 for cars and $150-$220 for trucks and SUVs. One-time rubberized undercoating costs $300-$600. Electronic modules start at $400-$600 installed.
Is rust proofing worth it on a new car? +
Absolutely. Factory corrosion protection is minimal, especially on the frame and subframe. An annual oil spray starting from year one significantly extends the vehicle's structural life in Canadian climates.
Which type of rust proofing is best? +
Oil-based annual sprays (like Krown or Rust Check) are widely considered the most effective for Canadian conditions because they penetrate into seams, crevices, and hard-to-reach areas that rubberized coatings miss.
Can you rust-proof a car that already has rust? +
Yes, but existing rust should be treated with a rust converter first. Rust proofing will then slow further progression, but it cannot reverse damage that has already occurred.
